Friday will be an early out students will get lunch before being let out of school. KB will be going to lunch about 10:40 dismissal is 11:50.

Mrs. Selby will be in KB in my place so I can take on my coaching duties in the high school to prepare for John Harris Invitational.

Star of the Week (round 2)

We have started at the begining with Star of the Week. It is a little different the second time around. Students will get to have pictures drawn of them CAREFUL, COLORFUL, and with DETAIL. Students then get to have family members or friends be they mystery reader on Fridays and have someone join them for lunch. We also will be using thier name in a Making Words Lesson. KB will use the letters in the name to make words that they know or can make sounds of.

PWIM: Picture Word Inductive Model

KB is going to try something new with the next unit. We are going to start talking about animals and their habitats. There has a been a poster hanging up in the classroom for students to look at for several days. On Monday I will ask students to identify what they see in the (nature) photograph. We will then label the picture parts identified, they will help stretch out the sounds to make each word. Each day we will read another book about animals and where they live Each day I hope to increase their vocabulary by adding to the poster new things that they can identify daily and adding more words to the word list. Students will then be able to find the words writ en in text and be able to use hem in their own writing. We will review their created word list everyday next week.



PWIM stress the components of phonics, grammar, mechanics, and the usage of the words.

I dream that.......

This week KB students have learned about some history of the United States that helped us get were we are in our nation. We watched videos of Martin Luther King Jr. giving speeches from http://www.unitedstreaming.com/. We have read stories about his dreams. The week we have looked at dreams for our school, community, country, and world. We celebrated Dr. Kings birthday on January 15th.

Sigh Word Olympics

Blue and Purple ribbons will be handed out at the end of January for those who have worked hard and gotten thier lists correct for the judge.

it, and how each snow flake is differen just like each one of them.
